Quarterly returns for tax you have deducted.
Reviewed by CA Hitendra Pal Singh· company law, tax and complianceLast reviewed
If you deduct tax at source you must deposit it and file a quarterly return. Interest runs at 1% per month for late deduction and 1.5% per month for late payment, and a separate fee applies to late filing of the return itself.
What is included
- 24Q, 26Q or 27Q as applicable
- Challan reconciliation
- Form 16 and 16A generation
- Correction statements
What we will need from you
- Deduction details for the quarter
- Challan payment details
- PAN of each deductee
How long it takes
Filed each quarter against your due dates.
Timelines are typical, not guaranteed. Government processing times vary, and a query from the officer adds to them. We will tell you where yours stands.
Common questions
What if a deductee has no PAN?
Tax must be deducted at a higher rate, and the return will flag it. Collecting PANs before you pay is much easier than correcting afterwards.
